Taking Your Finances Into The T.O.M.B.

Isn’t it sooo easy to swipe a credit or debit card? So how do you correct this problem before it destroys your marriage?

Here’s a nugget for you: Fixing plastic pleasures requires drastic measures!

How drastic? How important is your marriage? If you value your marriage it might be time to put your finances in the T.O.M.B. Yes, the tomb represents death, but it also represents resurrection. If you believe that Jesus died and was placed in a tomb and then resurrected, is it any harder to believe that He can resurrect your finances?

But again, here’s the problem. There is no resurrection without death. Sure, your finances may be dead, but what about you? You have to be willing to die to self. For your marriage to survive this season of financial turmoil you may have to go into the T.O.M.B.

T is for tithing. O is for giving offerings. M is for maintaining your household necessities. B is for paying bills (on time!). If those four things take all of your money, fine! Going into the T.O.M.B. means death to old spending habits. But this death will eventually lead to a glorious resurrection of your financial resources.

It’s called a tomb because it’s a very dark and dreadful place to your flesh. Not a whole lot of fun, but ask yourselves, “Are we having fun now arguing and destroying our marriage? Do we want to stay where we are now; never having enough? Or do we want to go into the T.O.M.B. for a season in order to get to the Promised Land and enjoy God’s best for our lives?”

No doubt it will be rough for a while, but as you do it together with God, you will see your marriage fortified. Need more to get started? Order our book entitled, “Manna-Free Living” on Amazon.
